In 2018, Ethical Giving recognised that there was a serious shortfall in funding for mental healthcare services in the Cheltenham and wider Gloucestershire area. The Listening Post counselling service was one of three organisations operating in the voluntary sector which received a grant of £1,500 to support their work in this field. The Listening Post offers timely and appropriate counselling sessions to help clients struggling with bereavement, depression, trauma or relationship difficulties amongst other issues. There is no set fee for these services which ensures that no-one is turned away on the grounds of income. The charity reports that the donation from Ethical Giving allowed it to subsidise around 167 counselling sessions.
“The counselling and counsellor exceeded my expectations and I feel I have been able to find what life can feel like again, what it feels like to really breathe again and smile. Thank you.” – Listening Post client feedback.
